There are plenty of highly skilled techs (and engineers, of course,) who visit this Forum who do engage in commercial work, and would tackle a German post-war radio with no problems. Wil, these guys here are just too humble - they have the competance to do a quality restoration but it would take many hours and it would be embarassing to give you a quote for the hours it would take to restore your radio to their standards. There also could be some surprises with the restoration that might make the restoration more expensive than anticipated. They don't want to make a firm quote and you don't want to feel like you are being gouged.You might be more successful finding someone if you specifically state something like a) test the tubes and b) do a full recap. My main concern is the slight hum. It works fine, otherwise.I also have a Grundig console (model SO222 U) that I'm currently using & it's fantastic! The radio needs to be re-strung, but I can change the stations by reaching inside the back of the cabinet & spinning the tuning dial by hand (carefully avoiding electrocusion.).

It has a decent sounding turntable & I even got my CD player & Graphic Equalizer to work with it yesterday after fashioning my own 5-pin din to RCA jack connector & plugging them into the reel-to-reel tape deck input.Anyway, the reason I'm concerned about the other radio (the table top model 6199) is that both of these units have an RHS output of 8.5 wpc but the console is ALOT louder than the table top. I suppose it could just be the lack of proper speaker connectors for the table top, but I'm just not knowledgeable enough to say. The only thing I'm positive about is the slight hum.So, to make a short story long.
